Stoner Finish Fantastic Winer At Laguna seca USA gp

The young Australian who started from second on the grid, dropped to third place at the start and took his time before launching his attack on Repsol Honda team mate Dani Pedrosa on lap eighteen of thirty two. After passing Pedrosa, who was suffering from fatigue and fitness problems, Stoner chased down Lorenzo for nine laps and wasted no time in passing him around the outside of turn one on lap twenty seven. Stoner has now increased his lead in the World Championship standings to twenty points over Lorenzo.
After being passed by Stoner, Dani Pedrosa retained third position comfortably. He knew his fitness would be tested here, at a track that demands a huge physical effort. He has now moved above Valentino Rossi in the Championship standings to 4th position with 110 points.
Andrea Dovizioso who had a great start, jumping from sixth to fourth, maintained this position for the majority of the race. He struggled to maintain his consistency for the long race in Laguna and with three laps to go was passed by Ben Spies. He remains third in the Championship standings with 143 points.
On this high note, the Repsol Honda Team will now enjoy a well deserved break before the next race in the Czech Republic on August 14.
Casey Stoner:
"All weekend we've been struggling a little so we weren't too confident that we could run with Jorge and Dani in the race. Before the race I felt relaxed, confident and generally calm, we started a little slower to get the tyres warm gently but also with a full tank of fuel, the bike didn't feel that great. I saw Dani struggling a bit and he started to drop back from Jorge so I had to attack at this point. Dani Pedrosa:
"I'm very happy with another podium, the second after my come back from injury. Andrea Dovizioso:
“We knew that it was going to be a tough race because this track is short, with very strong braking and it's also very demanding. In the first laps I pushed hard to stay with Casey, Dani and Lorenzo. I’m disappointed because today we had the speed to fight for a good result, in fact I lapped two tenths behind the fastest lap, but I couldn’t be consistent. I lost the battle with Spies and this is the first time I've lost a battle this year. My congratulations go to Casey and Dani”.

Lorenzo second Finish in Laguna seca Usa

Fellow Yamaha Factory Racing rider Ben Spies had a less than perfect start from the grid, initially dropping to seventh behind Valentino Rossi on the first laps of the race. Rossi was eventually dispatched by the Texan on lap three, freeing him to focus on Dovizioso ahead. Spies put in an incredible ride to close a gap of over five seconds and take fourth with just three laps to go.
The weekend’s results leave Lorenzo heading into the short holiday break trailing Championship leader Stoner by 20 points. Team mate Spies will arrive at Brno still in sixth place in the standings but now just 12 points behind Dani Pedrosa in fourth.
Jorge Lorenzo:
“Well first of all I’m lucky to be in the second position, after the crash yesterday I thought it wasn’t possible to race for a little while. After qualifying I hoped I might be able to fight till the end for victory but sometimes expectations are not reality. Casey was faster today, I couldn’t match his pace at the end. My physical condition is not so perfect which makes us a bit slow as well. Second is ok, we are only 20 points behind Casey and we’ll try again next time.”
Ben Spies:
“I got a really good start but going uphill to the steep part of the track basically we didn’t have enough power. I got stuck behind Valentino, I tried to get around as quick as I could but he’s really good on the brakes so it was pretty tough but I did the best I could. Once we got around him it was quite a big gap to Dovizioso but I just kept my head down and kept going. I’m happy we were able to track him down and get fourth. It was a really good race for us it just got spoilt in the first five hundred feet. I would have liked to have been on the podium as I think we had a package to fight with Dani, I guess that’s racing and I gave it 100% as always.”

Team Ducati Finish six and seven potsition motogp USA

The team worked very hard on both the GP11 and the GP11.1, and they’ll continue the development of the 800cc bikes during the next round at Brno, in the Czech Republic, which will follow a short two-week break. On the Monday after that race, the season’s second official test for the team riders will take place.
Valentino Rossi:
“We worked well this weekend. We started from a better position than we have in recent races, and I got a good launch on the start and tried to stay with the leaders. I did a lap in the mid-’22s, but then I closed the front twice in a row on the bumps in Turn 5 and nearly crashed. I still had a tough race after that, because Nicky stayed glued to me and didn’t give me a chance to breathe. We obviously don’t want to be fighting for sixth place, but we’re having some problems at the moment and we have to try and do our best with what we have. We’re losing too much on corner entry, where I’m very slow because I don’t have enough feeling, but Ducati is working and we must stay focused and positive, making progress step by step. In the short term, we have to make up those missing tenths in order to stay with the group with Spies, Sic and Dovizioso. Then we’ll think about the others.”
Nicky Hayden:
“I’ve won this race before, so I’m not going to jump up and down celebrating seventh place. We knew it was going to be tough, and crashing in qualifying didn’t help. I got a decent start, but I didn’t get to go with that second group like I had hoped. It was kind of like the Sachsenring: a good battle with Valentino, but thirty seconds behind the front. Vale was no faster than me, but he’s a racer: he doesn’t make mistakes and give you anything. A couple of times I thought I might be able to go up the inside, but I’m not just going to close my eyes and knock us both down trying for sixth place. People who think he’s not trying are crazy. I saw his right foot come off the peg a couple of times when he almost went down. We’ll take two weeks off, regroup and go to Brno. Now is no time to be negative. I believe in my team and Ducati, and I really think we’re still going to have a good season.”

Lorenzo motogp,America redbulls

Lorenzo sealed his place at the head of the pack on his final lap of qualifying as he posted a best circuit of one minute 21.202 seconds in scorching conditions.
Championship leader Casey Stoner also left it late before he snatched second place, 0.072secs behind Lorenzo, with the Australian's Repsol Honda team-mate Dani Pedrosa third on the grid.
The home fans in California were given reason for cheer as Ben Spies claimed fourth place, although it may have been better for the American after he was unable to return after crashing out with five minutes left in the session.
Lorenzo's high-speed spill in this morning's final practice session was more spectacular though, as he was launched into the air and across the gravel.
The 24-year-old was somehow unhurt and then displayed his champion-quality as he shook off the setback to clinch pole and continue to pile the pressure on Stoner.
The Australian has seen his championship lead reduced to 15 points by Lorenzo after the Spaniard has beaten him in the past two rounds and Lorenzo will fancy his chances of eating further into that gap after his performances so far this week.
Further back in the field, the Italian trio of Marco Simoncelli, Andrea Dovizioso and former champion Valentino Rossi were lined up from fifth to seventh.
Rossi's performance offered Ducati some hope, after he had initially struggled in the session, before finishing 1.033 behind Lorenzo.
The Italian had only managed the 11th-best time after yesterday's free practice but snuck onto the third row along with his fellow Ducatis of Hector Barbera and Nicky Hayden.
Great Britain's Cal Crutchlow rounded out the top-10 on his Monster Yamaha.

Short tips trio for Academy glory

Reeves, currently third in the FIA WRC Academy Cup standings, has never competed on the flat-out gravel roads in the centre of the country but Short is confident the Australian Pirelli Star Driver has what it takes to impress.
The former co-driver also singled out Christian Riedemann and Timo van der Marel as being potential frontrunners in the category, which pitches 18 young stars against one another in identical Ford Fiesta R2s using Pirelli control tyres.
FIA WRC Academy co-ordinator Phil Short has tipped Brendan Reeves as one of three surprise performers on Neste Oil Rally Finland, the third event of the six-round series, from 28-30 July.

Bridgestone propose revision to comisaris Motogp2011

These latest host of changes come in response to rider feedback and succeed steps taken by Bridgestone in the last 18 months such as the development and early introduction of the extra soft compound in 2010, and the selection of softer tyre compounds for the Catalunya, British, Dutch, Italian and German Grands Prix so far this year.
For the United States Grand Prix at Laguna Seca next weekend, softer rear slicks incorporating Bridgestone’s extra soft compound rubber have been selected in a continued bid to improve warm-up performance, especially as the morning sessions can be cool.
Then from the Czech Republic Grand Prix onwards more significant changes will come into effect as Bridgestone will provide every rider with an increased number of front slick tyres, three front slick tyre compound options, and revise rear slick tyre allocation to enable riders to select a greater number of the compound option they prefer.
The previous regulations permitted two compound options of front and rear slicks and eight front and ten rear slick tyres per rider per weekend. Now, from Brno onwards, Bridgestone will prepare three compound options of front slick tyre per race and provide each rider with nine front tyres each weekend. Ten rear slick tyres will still be available in two compound options per weekend, but riders can now choose more of the tyre option they prefer, up to a maximum of six of one compound option and four of the other.
Hiroshi Yamada – Manager, Bridgestone Motorsport Department:
“We have worked hard with the FIM, Dorna and the riders to make this proposal and the necessary regulation amendments and we make these significant changes to our tyre compound allocation procedure as part of our ongoing efforts to focus more on improving warm-up performance. When rider comments about warm-up performance started last year, we developed the extra soft compound rubber for the rear tyres to improve the situation. Then during the Italian Grand Prix we decided to bring softer spec rears to a further six of the remaining nine races, and with this latest change to our tyre approach we very much hope to arrive at a situation where the riders feel satisfied with the extra tyre choices they have each weekend and more comfortable with additional softer tyres in the cooler morning sessions. The introduction of FP1 on Friday morning this year changed the situation for us because conditions are never ideal on Friday morning and this is when we have seen most of the crashes. I hope this fundamental change to the Official Tyre Supplier situation demonstrates that we listen to riders and have long been working towards such a compromise to make them feel safer and more comfortable and confident in the warm-up performance of our tyres.”
Hirohide Hamashima – Assistant to Director, Motorsport Tyre Development Division
“We have spent a great deal of time speaking personally with riders, especially in recent months, and the raft of changes that we have proposed are in direct response to their feedback and comments, specifically relating to the warm-up performance of our tyres in the cooler morning sessions. The riders have agreed with our proposal so I am confident that the changes will

World chsmpionship power boat races to roar into key west nov 8-15

KEY WEST, Florida Keys — Top American and international powerboat racing teams are to churn up the waters of Key West Harbor during the Key West World Championship continues through Sunday, Nov. 15.

World Superbike gears up for Brno classic

The rider they will all have their eyes on this weekend, and whose name is indelibly linked with the Brno circuit, is undoubtedly Max Biaggi. The Aprilia Alitalia man has a grand total of three wins and seven podiums in the eight races he has taken part in at Brno since his arrival in World Superbike. His results take on even more significance seeing as he has never qualified for and finished a race in lower than fourth position. While Max Biaggi is the rider with the best results at Brno, Carlos Checa (Althea Racing Ducati) will be called upon to maintain his 43 point lead in the standings, over his Aprilia rival. Third-placed man Marco Melandri (Yamaha World Superbike Team) has never raced a Superbike at Brno, but he does have a best result of fifth place in 2006 in MotoGP, and did win the 250 cc race in 2002. Team-mate Eugene Laverty is also lining up for his Superbike debut on this track. Other Italians who have gone well at Brno in the past include Michel Fabrizio (Suzuki Alstare) and Ayrton Badovini (BMW Motorrad Italia SBK Team). The BMW Italia squad will be back to full strength at Brno with the returning James Toseland, who won race 1 here in 2007, and Toseland is now on the road towards completing his recovery following a crash in private testing at Motorland Aragon.
Brno could also see a return to the leading positions for Noriyuki Haga (PATA Racing Team Aprilia), who has one win (race 2 in 2005) and two pole positions at the Czech circuit to his name. Brno will be a home race to all effects for the Effenbert-Liberty Racing Team, who have their base in Prague, a Czech Republic sponsor and a Czech rider amidst their ranks. As well as regulars Pedercini Kawasaki (Mark Aitchison and Roberto Rolfo) and Supersonic Racing Team (Maxime Berger), the grid will be made up of wild-card entries for Italian Matteo Baiocco on his Barni Racing Ducati 1098R and Hungarian Viktor Kispataki on a Prop-tech Ltd Honda CBR1000RR.
